ABOUT STILL WATER

The meaning behind the name

Still Water is a name drawn from the quiet of God's presence and the image of the soul, an invitation to follow the Good Shepherd to the still water, where He restores our soul.

STILL

In stillness, the sediment settles, the busyness, distractions, and stress, so that our soul becomes clear.

WATER

Water as an image of the soul, a place where God shelters, soothes, and restores.

THE NAME

Where He will restore our soul

I chose the name Still Water because I am drawn to water, both in nature and as an image of the soul.

In the psalms, I find the invitation to pause, to sit with what is in God's loving presence. It is in stillness that the sediment settles so that my soul becomes clear.

I am invited to follow my Good Shepherd to the still water, where He will restore my soul.

He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. — Psalm 23:2
